Memory [Not] Full.

Church this morning got me thinking. I have went to Powerhouse the past couple of weeks and didn't really get anything out of any of the messages.. maybe I wasn't listening or maybe God didn't want me to hear anything until today. What caught me most was along the lines of this:

"If you think you can fit God into your mind then you probably can't believe in Him. God is Bigger than just being able to fit into your head."

And it's so true. If we think we can understand God, we're sadly mistaken. We cannot possibly fit God in our heads and be done with it. He will remain a mystery to us. He will only let us catch glimpses of His awesome power. "Show me Your Glory!", we cry, day after day. But what happens when He doesn't show up right away? What happens when we think God has forgotten about us? PRAY. BELIEVE. TRUST! I feel like we lose faith when God doesn't show up on time. God hates when we lose faith. God waits on us, then why is it so hard to wait on Him?

I love when God reveals things to you in the perfect timing. Tonight I went to Barnes & Noble with a few friends just to hang out, look for some books, laugh and have fun. I came across a book that I have seen and longed to read many times called, "Drops like Stars" by one of my favorite authors, Rob Bell. I sat on the ground and read the WHOLE book. It was incredible, it was moving, it was painful, it was hopeful, it was just insane. I learned SO much from that book that I couldn't stop groaning about it all night. God shows us what He wants us to know. I wouldn't have finished that book 3 minutes before the store closed if God didn't want me to know what was written inside.

My mind isn't full yet.

God is not yet finished molding my brain.

Try fitting God in your head, I bet you won't be able to.

AND.

"I will exalt You.
I will exalt You.
I will exalt You.
You are my God.

My hiding place. My safe refuge.
My treasure Lord You are.
My friend and King, Anointed One.
Most Holy.

Because You're with me.
Because You're with me.
Because You're with me.
I will not fear.

My hiding place. My safe refuge.
My treasure Lord You are.
My friend and King, Anointed One.
Most Holy.

I will exalt You.
I will exalt You.
I will exalt You.
You are my God."

I've never really thought about knowing God to the extent of Him being my friend. He's always been, "just God". But you see, God is Bigger than just the person whom you put your faith in, He is more than just the big guy upstairs. God is your friend. Yours. And(!) we are His. We are His and He is ours! We give God the praise and honor He deserves because He is the best friend we could ever have AND He is our king! He plays dual roles in our lives. Just imagine being best friends with a modern day King, the chances of that seem slim. With God the wall between royalty and ordinary are torn down. We are one. We can find rest in our God. We don't have to fear because God is with us. We don't have to just worship our King anymore, we can be His friend. We can be ourselves with Him.

Exalt Him, He is your King. Trust Him, He is your friend after all.
